Sasha awarded 2nd place poster presentation at the 2023 NorCal SETAC Annual Meeting
Sasha A’Hearn presented her research at the 2023 NorCal SETAC Annual Meeting. Her poster, titled “Assessing the ability of microbes in freshwater systems to degrade aromatic lignin monomers for respiration and growth,” received 2nd place in the student poster competition!

Madi Mathers and Alyssa Burns recently received the 2023 Jastro & Shields Research Award from the UC Davis College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. Alyssa Burns was recently awarded the Donald G. Crosby Fellowship in Environmental Chemistry by UC Davis Grad Studies and the Agricultural & Environmental Chemistry graduate group. This fellowship is awarded in recognition of outstanding academic record and promise of productive scholarship.

Madi awarded 2020 Delta Science Fellowship
Madi Mathers was one of ten early-career researchers recently awarded the 2020 Delta Science Fellowship (DSF). With DSF funding, she will aim to characterize where and how much detrital material originates in wetlands, the composition of that material, and how detrital particles are exported.
